Just got back from a week touring Lombok and Sumbawa on a trusty Honda Tiger…
We were looking for adventure and we found it, especially on the rugged island of Sumbawa where we encountered spectacular scenery, a colourful fishermen’s ceremony, and deserted surf beaches. We also experienced an unplanned, spine-tingling journey during which we negotiated 40 kilometres of rough, unmade road and bridgeless rivers through majestic rainforest terrain. We met some lovely people along the way but – on the basis that we hadn’t gone there to surf, dive or mine for gold – we found the beautiful Sumbawa to be somewhat lacking in things to do, accommodation and Bintang beer.
