The Beginning of the Indonesian Archipelago

This post should really be the very first chapter of my blog because, you see, I’m at the very beginning of Indonesia, not at the beginning of time but at the beginning of the archipelago, on the Island of Pulau Weh on the extreme northwest tip of Sumatra… and Indonesia.

A group of five of us are visiting our itinerant friend Jim who is doing a six-month stint as a dive instructor here.

We’ve been busy diving, swimming, jumping off the jetty and eating some seriously amazing food.

We also drove out to the ‘point zero kilometre’ monument

where we met a troop of hostile macaques and a surprisingly friendly wild boar.

I’m loving the colours of Pulau Weh…
