Last Night of Twelfth Night

I’ve just come back from a brief two-day visit to Singapore where I grabbed a bit of culture by catching the final night of a month-long performance of Shakespeare in the Park. The play was Twelfth Night – a romantic, rambunctious gender-bending comedy of merriment and mistaken identities. I loved the set, which featured the sea, a sandy beach, a boat, a bar, and the façade of an Adriatic villa, with a full moon rising in the final scene. We sat on a sarong under the stars in the cool green environment of Fort Canning Park, drank a bottle of red wine and relished every minute of the performance.
